June 1 - 8, 2023: Ryan Kim
Finally, a little bit more of a clear direction for the organization has taken flight. We have established different branches for our organization:
Tutoring Initiative
Administrative Initiative
Gardening Project
Food Service Project
Environmental Health Project
Homeless Bag Project
We have the most progress for the Garden and Administrative (working in conjunction with the Food Service Project).
For the Administrative Project, we will be creating courses to teach organizations how to utilize media tools to their advantage. We have contacted Glenn Curado and the World Harvest FoodBank, resulting in contact with their VP- Alicia. Therefore we have successfully reached their administration, and have been requested help in their management. They have asked to be taught how to use media tools ranging from social media (Instagram, Facebook ---> microsoft excel, adobe photoshop).
Garden Initiative: We met for the first time on June 8th, 2023 in which we discussed plans for our Project as follows:
Contact our School's Principal Ms. Markussen for permission to use a large plot of unused land for a gardening spot --> If not, contact district head John Paramo for further permissions.
Once land has been aquired, we are a student run Organization, meaning that we must garner funding through outsourcing. We look forward to contacting Big green which is a community fundraising / gardening nonprofit dedicated to funding gardening projects and spreading awareness in this subject. Open Bank, Hanmi Bank, and more options are being brainstormed.
With Funds we will start building garden along with support from Big Green to do so.
To be Determined
The rest:
Jadon and Tiffany chose environmental conservation through cleaning the community along with creating homeless bags for the unhoused. Their charity of choice is https://shelteringgrace.org/adopt-a-mom/ which will help unhoused mothers through “adopting” them or sending funding, meeting them in person to provide for their needs, and etc.
Dylan Wee from Crescenta Valley would like to start a tutoring project which is both simple and impactful as many of us have experienced troubles in schooling (which is the basis to integrate with society) due to not having external assistance. Through providing this assistance at no cost, we hope to make the children building our tomorrow feel more comfortable within their schooling environments.
Andie and Jessica: Food Banking Project. Working at a foodbank to take part in feeding half a million families (World Harvest Food Bank).
